COTA Logs 450 Emergency Transports Since Sinlaku; Services Continue in Modified Mode

SAIPAN — The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority has completed more than 450 emergency transports since Super Typhoon Sinlaku made landfall, providing critical movement for shelterees, medical patients, military personnel and airport travelers across the recovery period.

According to an update from COTA, the Office of the Governor and Lt. Governor issued Friday, the agency has remained activated in support of the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management Operations Center. Of the 450 transports logged from April 10 through 6 a.m. May 1, 269 were medical, 113 served shelterees, 37 were airport-related and 18 were for military needs.

COTA’s three Call-A-Ride programs are operating at varying levels. Call-A-Ride Rota and Call-A-Ride Tinian are fully operational. Call-A-Ride Saipan remains limited to essential trips, including hemodialysis, prescription refills, clinic visits and scheduled appointments. Reservations for Tinian service can be made by calling (670) 236-2682.

The Fixed Route Blue Line 1B continues to run daily, Sunday through Saturday, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. under modified service hours. Due to missing bus stop signs, riders are asked to raise their hand to flag down drivers before the bus arrives.
