Protect Your Family from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning During Recovery

SAIPAN — With thousands of residents relying on generators following Typhoon Sinlaku, the CNMI Joint Information Center is urging the public to take precautions against carbon monoxide poisoning, warning that the colorless, odorless gas can be deadly, often without warning.

Residents are urged never to use generators inside a home or garage and to keep generators outside at least 20 feet from doors and windows.

CO detectors should be installed and checked regularly. Anyone who feels dizzy, weak or nauseous should get to fresh air immediately and seek medical help.
