SAIPAN — The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation issued a public advisory Saturday afternoon urging residents of Saipan, Tinian and Rota to fill water containers, bathtubs and tanks immediately in anticipation of water service interruptions as Typhoon Sinlaku approaches.
CUC warned that power outages during the storm can disrupt water well pumps, potentially cutting off supply. The utility said it will prioritize restoring electricity as quickly as possible after the storm to help restore water access, and asked residents and businesses to reduce non-essential water use in the meantime.
Residents evacuating their homes are asked to turn off the main water valve before leaving to prevent wastage and potential damage. After the storm passes, CUC is asking everyone to inspect their property for leaks and make repairs promptly.
