UOG, NMC launch CNMI Green Growth Kupu Conservation Corps on Saipan, building Pacific green workforce

SAIPAN — The University of Guam’s Guam Green Growth (G3) and the CNMI Green Growth Initiative (CNMI GG) have launched the CNMI Green Growth Kupu Conservation Corps on Saipan, bringing a proven environmental workforce pipeline to the Commonwealth and training the next generation of leaders for the Pacific’s green economy. The program is facilitated by the UOG Center for Island Sustainability & Sea Grant (UOG CIS & Sea Grant) and modeled after Guam’s successful G3 Conservation Corps, which has already trained more than a hundred participants across sustainability sectors.

From NWS Guam’s Weekly Regional Weather Outlook: trades steady, spotty showers linger; no tropical threats

SAIPAN – This is from the National Weather Service Guam’s weekly regional weather update issued Tuesday: easterly trade winds have taken hold across the region. For the Marianas, the surface trough and upper low that drove recent downpours shifted west, but a moist E–SE flow will keep patchy showers and a slight chance of thunder through the week; a disturbance passing to the south this weekend could nudge more clouds and showers toward Guam. No tropical cyclone development is indicated. Regional seas are near 5–7 ft in the Marianas and central/eastern Micronesia and 3–5 ft near Yap and Palau, with northerly swell easing as trade-wind swell builds. A Small Craft Advisory is posted for Majuro, and severe drought persists at Kapingamarangi.
